About the Artist
Rae was born and raised mainly in Arizona. She has always had a fondness for animals of all kinds, but especially horses. From a young age she knew she would end up in an animal-centered career, often imagining herself becoming a veterinarian.
Along with her passion for animals, Rae's passion for art and creativity never faltered. From the time she could hold a pencil all she wanted to do was draw. Seeing this drive, Rae's mother sent her to a neighbor who offered art classes from her home. Those classes began a lifetime of learning and growing as an artist. Because of her two interests, Rae took every agriculture class and art class she could manage while in middle and high school.
When it came time to apply to college her dream of becoming a veterinarian won out and she left for Tucson to go to the University of Arizona, with hopes of eventually cross majoring in art. While she was going to school she met the man who she would marry and decided art was more important to her than becoming a veterinarian, so she switched schools and earned an associates in fine art from Eastern Arizona College instead.
While in Safford she got married and moved onto her husband's family ranch and has been there ever since. Together they now have two sons and a slew of animals; between caring for them and helping run things on the ranch Rae stays busy - but she makes it a point to find time for her art. She is able to use her everyday experiences for inspiration and wants to share those moments through her art.
